You’re definitely celebrating that success, especially after working on the video campaign for months!  It was the result of blood, sweat, and tears. You put your all into it and finally, it’s paid off!

Or has it?

Do YouTube views really mean that your brand has successfully penetrated through the market and grabbed the attention of viewers? It might. But views aren’t the only measure of success.

So many brands make the mistake of confusing views with success. A high number of views doesn’t guarantee the success of your brand in the global market.

The metrics of your video play a much more important role in the success of your content. Views, in reality, isn’t the only thing that matters. Here’s why:

You Don’t Know If The Views Are Organic

You’ve probably come across those short, 30 second adverts when you load a video. You know, the ones that play and after a couple of seconds, you have the option to skip them?

The truth is, views from paid campaigns count toward those adverts because they’re considered YouTube videos too.

So, in a nutshell, you can’t guarantee if the views on your videos are organic! *gasp*

You Don’t Know How Many Viewers You’ve Had

Unfortunately, you don’t know how many viewers you’ve actually had. If someone views your video for 5 seconds, it still counts as viewing.

So let’s say someone accidentally viewed your video but skipped it after a couple of seconds. This means that the viewer skipped the video entirely and the views aren’t organic.

YouTube No Longer Sees Views for Ranks

When YouTube was first launched, it would rank your videos based on the views it would garner. This is no longer relevant.

With its algorithms changing, YouTube only considers organic views and how searchable your video is online.

So the Meta and SEO descriptions matter just as much as the views of your video content.

Subscribers Matter

There’s a reason why channels tell you to “subscribe” to their videos. A recent study shows that the number of subscribers help you climb the ranks on YouTube.

How many times your subscribers view your content within 48 hours is what counts. This is because it shows that your followers find your content relevant.

To check your subscriber velocity, go to Analytics > Watch Time. This will show you the success of your video content, based on how many of your subscribers actually view it.

These are just a few reasons to keep in mind why metrics matter.
