The 4 Steps: How to Make a Great Promotional Video

The following steps have been compiled using the video experts at 336 Productions. The steps include;

  1. Strategic Planning

In this step, the purpose and strategic goals of the video are identified. All parties involved in the making of the promotional video should meet and have a creative brief where the story is outlined, audience determined, distribution discussed, tone agreed upon, and budget decided.

  1. Pre-Production

In this step, the technical aspects of the video’s production are planned, cast determined, locations secured, and storyboard created.  It answers questions like: Where will the video be filmed? Who will be the talent? Where will cast and crew park when they arrive to set? Basically, pre-production includes all the planning (that needs to be done) to ensure production and post-production goes smoothly.

  1. Production

This step refers to the actual days of the video shoot, while on set or on-location.  This step is very important because the footage captures here is what the editor will work with. If the footage captured during production is bad, there are few tricks the editor can use to turn it around. 336 Productions offers in-studio filming, on-location filming, green screen filming, and aerial filming to their clients.

  1. Post-Production

This step begins when production of the corporate video ends. The filmed raw footage is transferred to computers with special programs and applications for editing. Clients are shown the video at different stages of editing so that they can provide feedback.  Fine-tuning is done to the video and the video is compressed and exporting according to client’s needs.
