Product demos or walkthrough videos help you shine a light on specific products or solutions. They go beyond a simple benefit statement and demonstrate how the product works in real life.

Product video shoots are a crucial part of marketing cycles in a wide range of sectors. Whether you’re launching a new product, adding a service line, or just looking to increase sales of your existing offerings, a product demo video can help. According to Wyzowl’s State of Video Marketing 2023 report, 89% of people were convinced to buy a product or service after watching a video about it.

How to Create the Right Demo Video For Your Brand

Product videos can feature animation or live-action footage, depending on the type of product and your narrative. In either case, the keys to success remain the same. Here’s how to create excellent product demos right for your brand.

1. Directly Address Customer Pain Points

While demo videos should highlight the product’s main features and functionalities, it’s more important to address business value and the results for buyers.

Call out your customers’ pain points early. Hook them with the promise of a proven solution that addresses all of their concerns. As the video progresses, make sure you tie in product features to tangible user benefits. This will help reinforce the idea of your product as a customer-centric solution.

2. Create a Few Different Types of Demos

You have many options when it comes to product demo videos. Buyers at different stages of the sales cycle will typically want different degrees of detail. Early on, your prospects often need just ‘sneak peeks’; too much detail can actually prove counterproductive. As your leads progress along the sales pipeline, you can offer more comprehensive walkthroughs and videos devoted to specific features or functions.

According to Gartner, brands need three demos on average, and sometimes, as many as 15, to close a deal. Consider building out your demos according to buyer maturity or buyer profile. Depending on what you’re selling, you could also A/B test live-action and animation for your product videos

3. Add Trust Icons

Don’t limit your demo videos to product features and functions; include some third-party validation for its quality and utility. This can be customer reviews and testimonials, including from respected industry experts.

You can feature mini case studies to showcase proven success, as well as any relevant industry accreditations, such as ISO and GDPR certifications.

4. Include a Compelling Call-to-Action

Demo videos typically precede some form of user engagement, such as a product trial, sales inquiry, or even purchase. As such, it’s vital that you end the video with a powerful and relevant call-to-action (CTA), urging viewers to take the next step in the purchase journey.

Identify the right CTA for your product and try providing some incentives, such as a discount, offers, extended warranty, or something else, to expedite the process.
