Why It’s Important to Hire An Insured Video Company

There are certain things that need to be kept in mind before hiring a video company. When looking to hire an Orange County, LA or Riverside video production company make sure they not only have insurance for the protection of their equipment, but that they provide clients protection against set related damages, losses, injury to cast and crew, etc. Albeit the chance of a mishap occurring is very small when the video company knows how to operate a safe set and workplace, it is always better to be protected.

Here are a few things that you should look for in the insurance policy of the company you hire.

Production Package

The Production Package Policy is applicable for covering losses sustained during a video production. This policy covers damage and destruction of media, props, set damage. Moreover, it also compensates for losses incurred by the death or illness of a key cast member.

General Liability

The general liability insurance covers all production related risks and accidents. These include bodily injury, property damage, and medical payments. If one of the lights fall and damage your glass topped table, or if a crew member accidentally messes up the power lines, general liability will cover it and other production related mishaps.

Non-Owned/Hired Auto

This coverage is similar to the Production Package Policy, where physical damage from rented vehicles, film trucks, units, dressing studios, trailers, grip trucks, and other rented autos are covered. Hired Auto Liability is the insurance that covers bodily injuries and property damage caused by the vehicle rented by the company that is also used on production site. Non-owned provides coverage for bodily injury and physical damage caused by someone else’s personal car on an insured production.

Worker’s Compensation

Worker’s compensation is essential for all permanent or temporary production crew or cast members, as per state laws. This includes coverage for death, medical and disability caused during the employment term.
